Wendy Van Dort

BACHELOR OF APPLIED SCIENCE (NURSING)
DIPLOMA OF REMEDIAL MASSAGE

CLASSICAL AND ZEN SHIATSU
QUALIFIED YOGA INSTRUCTOR

Embodied Being is owned and operated by Remedial Massage Therapist, Wendy Van Dort, who has 10 years experience working in health clinics and retreat centres. She began her career as a Registered Nurse, working in busy medical-surgical wards in two of Melbourne’s leading training hospitals, which has provided a good foundation in understanding the mechanisms of disease and the Western model of medical treatment.

For the past 20 years, Wendy has also practiced yoga and in 2013, completed her yoga teacher training in the Krishnamacharya hatha tradition. Wendy tailors her massage treatments to individual needs drawing upon her knowledge of eastern and western physiology and anatomy. She specialises in movement patterns, specifically, how movement and postural habits affect the flow of energy through the body.

She loves her work and empowering people to feel more ease in their body so they can move with more freedom, grace and connection to earth.  She spends her free time in nature and hanging out with friends and family.

Ashley Law

ADVANCED DIPLOMA OF MYOTHERAPY

My journey began in my enjoyment of playing and following sport, which stirred my interest into the biomechanics of the human body. Starting with a Certificate of Massage followed with a Diploma of Remedial Massage to graduate an Advanced Diploma of Myotherapy in 2017. During this time, I’ve worked with fellow Myotherapists, Physiotherapists and Exercise Physiologists that enriched my development. The journey of continual education has led to further qualifications in Matwork Pilates as well as Level 1&2 Be Activated 123, a technique which begins with diaphragmatic breathing to support movement.

The body is a phenomenal ingenious vehicle that can undertake all challenges when in balance. When we integrate the instruments of health and wellbeing, mind and body, the outcome of dynamic motion, strength, power and flexibility will result.

Susan Morse

HAKEA RIDGE SHIATSU

Susan has been a fully trained and licensed bodywork therapist for more than twenty years, previously practising in both the UK and US before moving to Australia in 2015. She has since become a fully qualified Shiatsu practitioner and has set up Hakea Ridge Shiatsu to focus on treating clients using both the Zen and barefoot Shiatsu methods. Susan is currently offering Shiatsu treatments to clients from any age group and is happy to adapt treatments to suit a range of physical or mental health needs. She views Shiatsu as a balanced, and gentle yet effective way of allowing the body to relax, heal or regenerate harmoniously, and according to the needs of the client.

With the above health principles in mind, Susan is now also in the final stages of training in Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy. BCT is a non-invasive treatment during which a highly skilled therapist “listens” to the body in a safe space, allowing residual and current trauma to emerge and resolve without causing the client undue stress and distress. BCT sessions will be available from early in 2024.

Like many locals, when not working Susan can be found gardening, walking and immersed in nature.
